CHRIST’S EXALTATION AND OUR CONFIDENCE

### Teen Devotional: Christ’s Exaltation and Our Confidence

**Heidelberg Catechism Question 51:**
*How does this glory of Christ, our head, benefit us?*

**Answer:**
*First, through his Holy Spirit he pours out his gifts from heaven upon us his members. Second, by his power he defends us and keeps us safe from all enemies.*

#### Reflecting on Christ’s Glory
Think about the most awe-inspiring moments you’ve experienced. Maybe it was a breathtaking sunset, an exhilarating victory in sports, or a heartfelt moment with friends. Now, imagine the glory of Christ, which is beyond anything we can fully grasp. Christ’s exaltation, his rise to the highest place of honor, is not just a distant event; it has real implications for your daily life.

#### Christ’s Gifts to Us
When we say Christ pours out his gifts on us, it’s like receiving a treasure chest filled with invaluable items. The Holy Spirit equips us with gifts such as wisdom, courage, kindness, and patience. Think of these as tools for navigating the journey of life. These gifts are personalized for you, meant to help you grow and shine brightly in your unique way.

#### Christ’s Protection
Life can be overwhelming. Peer pressure, academic stress, family expectations, and uncertainties about the future can weigh heavy on your heart. But here’s the assurance: Christ, with his immense power, defends and protects you. Picture a strong shield guarding you from all harm. His protection means you can face challenges with a sense of peace, knowing that you are never alone.

#### Living in Confidence
With Christ’s gifts and protection, you can walk through life with confidence. It doesn’t mean life will be free of difficulties, but it does mean you have a solid foundation. Embrace the gifts you’ve been given and trust in Christ’s safeguarding power.

#### Prayer
*Dear Lord, thank you for the gifts and protection you provide through Christ. Help me to recognize and use the gifts you’ve given me, and to trust in your defense as I face life’s challenges. Amen.*

#### Thought for the Day
*Christ’s exaltation means we are never without his gifts and protection. Let’s live confidently, knowing we are always under his loving care.*
