#### Devotional

**Scripture Reading:** Romans 5:1-2
*”Therefore, since we have been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Through him we have also obtained access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God.”*

Do you ever think about what makes you truly secure? Is it having good friends, excelling at school, or being liked by others? While all of these things can make us feel safe for a time, they’re not permanent. Friends might move away, grades can falter, and our circumstances might change. So where can we find something that lasts?

The Heidelberg Catechism points us to the only source of true security—our faith in Jesus Christ. It reminds us of a powerful truth: if we believe the gospel, we are declared righteous before God. This means that because of Jesus’ sacrifice for our sins, God sees us as perfect, clean, and accepted in His sight. Even more amazing, we are heirs to eternal life. Nothing in this world can take that away.

Think of it like this: Imagine being given a permanent key to the most incredible house—one that never decays, where joy, love, and peace fill every corner. That’s what it means to be an heir of eternal life. Through faith in Christ, you’re given access to this unshakable promise. It’s not something you have to earn, and it’s not something you can lose. It’s God’s gift to you.

So, what does this mean for your life today? It means you don’t have to live in fear or constantly seek approval from others. Your worth isn’t based on how you look, how many followers you have, or how “successful” you are. In God’s eyes, you’re already loved, valued, and secure because of Jesus.

Let this truth sink in: **In Christ, you are righteous before God and an heir to everlasting life.** Let it shape how you live, how you face challenges, and how you view yourself. No matter what happens, you are safe in His hands.

**Reflection Questions:**
1. What are some things you tend to rely on for your sense of security?
2. How does knowing that you are righteous before God and an heir to eternal life give you peace?
3. How can you live out this truth in your daily life?
