**Q&A 65 – Heidelberg Catechism**
**Q:** Since then faith alone makes us share in Christ and all His benefits, where does this faith come from?
**A:** From the Holy Spirit, who works it in our hearts by the preaching of the gospel, and strengthens it by the use of the sacraments.
–#### **Devotion:**
Have you ever wondered where faith comes from? Is it something we create within ourselves, or is it something given to us? The Heidelberg Catechism reminds us that faith is not something we produce—it is a **gift from God**.
Faith is how we receive all the blessings of Christ—His love, His forgiveness, and His promise of eternal life. But this faith doesn’t just appear out of nowhere. It is **worked in our hearts by the Holy Spirit** through the preaching of the gospel. When we hear the truth of Jesus—His sacrifice, His resurrection, and His love for us—the Spirit moves within us, opening our hearts to believe.
Not only does the Spirit give us faith, but He also **strengthens** it through the sacraments. Baptism reminds us that we belong to Christ, and the Lord’s Supper nourishes our faith as we remember His sacrifice. These are not just rituals—they are powerful signs that God uses to deepen our trust in Him.
So, if you ever feel like your faith is weak, don’t be discouraged. Faith is not about how strong you are—it’s about how **faithful God is**. Keep listening to His Word, keep receiving His grace, and trust that the Holy Spirit is working in you.

#### **Prayer:**
Lord, thank You for the gift of faith. I know that I cannot create faith on my own—it is Your Spirit who works in me. Help me to trust You more, to listen to Your Word, and to receive Your grace with joy. Strengthen my faith through the gospel and the sacraments, and help me to share Your love with others. Amen.
