THE COMFORT OF RESURRECTION

**Devotional: “The Comfort of the Resurrection”**

**Scripture Reading:** 1 Corinthians 15:51-57

**Heidelberg Catechism, Q&A 57:**
*Question 57: What comfort does the resurrection of the body offer you?*
*Answer: Not only will my soul be taken immediately after this life to Christ its head, but also my very flesh, raised by the power of Christ, will be reunited with my soul and made like Christ’s glorious body.*

**Reflection:**

Life often presents us with profound and difficult questions about our existence, our purpose, and what lies beyond the grave. The Heidelberg Catechism, through its question 57, offers us a comforting and hope-filled answer to these existential ponderings. It reassures us that our physical death is not the end, but rather a transition to a more glorious existence.

The promise of resurrection is rooted deeply in the victory of Christ over death. As Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 15, through the resurrection, the perishable will be clothed with the imperishable, and mortality will be swallowed up by life. This transformative power assures us that our bodies, frail and broken as they may be, will be renewed and glorified, made like Christ’s glorious body.

In times of sorrow and loss, this truth provides a balm for our grieving hearts. When we face the reality of death, whether our own or that of loved ones, we are not left to despair. The resurrection promises a reunion with Christ, where our souls and bodies will be made whole. This hope steadies us, enabling us to live with courage and confidence, knowing that death is not the final word.

**Prayer:**

Lord Jesus Christ,
We thank You for the precious promise of the resurrection. In our moments of fear and uncertainty, remind us of Your victory over death. Help us to live each day with the assurance that we will be made like You, glorified and united with You forever. Strengthen our faith and fill our hearts with hope, that we may face the future with unwavering trust in Your unending love. Amen.

May this reflection on the resurrection bring you comfort and hope as you navigate the challenges of life.
