QUESTIONS 29-30 OF HEILDERBERG  CATECHISM

LORD’S DAY 11 Title: Understanding Our Savior Scripture Reading: John 14:6 “Jesus answered, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.’” Introduction: Hey, everyone! Today, we’re diving into two important questions from the Heidelberg Catechism that help us understand who Jesus really is and what it means for our lives. These questions ask who is our Savior and why we need Him. Who is Our Savior? The Heidelberg Catechism (Q&A 29) tells us that our Savior is Jesus, meaning “Savior,” and that He saves us from our sins. Jesus is not just a historical figure or a good teacher. He is the Son of God who came to rescue us from sin and death. Why Do We Need Him? According to Q&A 30, we need Jesus because without Him, we are lost and separated from God. Imagine being stuck in a deep pit with no way out. Jesus is the only one who can pull us out and bring us back to God. No amount of good deeds, knowledge, or effort can save us—only Jesus can. Reflection: Think about your own life. Are there areas where you feel lost or separated from God? Remember that Jesus is always there, ready to save and guide you back. Reflect on the fact that Jesus being our Savior means we don’t have to earn our way to God. It’s a gift of grace. Prayer: “Dear Jesus, thank You for being our Savior and rescuing us from our sins. Help us to always remember that we need You and that You are the only way to the Father. Guide us to live in Your truth and love. Amen.” Conclusion: Understanding Jesus as our Savior is foundational to our faith. As we go through our daily lives, let’s hold onto this truth and let it shape how we live and love others. There you have it! A devotion that helps teenagers grasp the significance of Jesus as our Savior, as outlined in the Heidelberg Catechism. 🙏
